# ChessRogue - Alpha 0.2
This update lays down a much stronger visual and structural foundation for the game. A large part of the roguelike mode has been reworked to make the experience cleaner, more readable, and far more satisfying to play.
## New
- Added a first `Autobattler [WIP]` mode accessible from the main menu.
- Integrated new pixel art visuals for the main roguelike pieces.
- Reworked the Armory with a clearer, more premium presentation better suited to meta progression.
## Visual Improvements
- Major overall visual upgrade for the roguelike mode.
- Reworked main board presentation with better asset integration.
- Improved combat VFX for cleaner and more impactful feedback.
- Reworked piece movement trails for a smoother and more satisfying feel.
- Fixed stray visual artifacts appearing in animated menu backgrounds.
## Map / Progression
- Reworked the map with a stronger pixel-art deckbuilder feel.
- Path generation is now more coherent and readable.
- Elite encounters now appear more often toward the later part of a run.
- Campfires are distributed more naturally, with stronger presence in the early and mid run.
- Improved links between map nodes for a more natural visual flow.
- Recentered the map layout and improved floor readability.
- Replaced text-based node markers with proper pixel-art icons.
## Audio / Game Feel
- Added combat SFX for movement, attacks, selection, captures, promotion, teleportation, victory, and defeat.
- The game now feels much more alive during battles.
## Fixes
- Fixed teleporters.
- Resolved several visual bugs and UI issues.
- Cleaned up a large number of script errors and type inference issues.
- Improved overall stability across recently added systems.
## Localization
- Major English localization pass across menus, combat, rewards, map, campfire, armory, and other game screens.
## WIP
- The Autobattler mode is still in active development.
- More visual upgrades, animations, and content are planned for future updates.
